Present Tense


Hello guys, welcome back to my blog. So, now I would like to tell you about Grammar especially Tenses. But in this time, I just share about Present Tense. Here we go!
There are 4 types of Present Tense, those are :

1.    Simple Present Tense
Simple Present Tense is used for habits, facts, generalizations, and truths that are not affected by the passage of time
a.    Form
•    Verbal sentence
( + )  S + V1 + (s/es) + O
( - )   S + Do/Does + not + V1 + O
( ? )   Do/Does + S + V1 + O + ?
( -? )  Don’t/Doesn’t + S + not + O + ?

Example :
( + )  Daniel reads a novel every week.
( - )   Mark does not play volley ball
( ? )   Do you watch a movie in cinema?
( -? )  Don’t they study English?

•      Nominal sentence
   ( + )  S + To be ( is, am, are ) + 3C
   ( - )   S + To be ( is, am, are ) + not + 3C
   ( ? )   To be ( is, am are ) + S + 3C + ?
   ( -? )  Isn’t, Aren’t + S + not + 3C + ?

Example :
( + )  David is a doctor
( - )   Selena is not happy
( ? )   Are you a teacher?
( -? )  Aren’t they student?
b.    Time Signal
•    Every day            :  Setiap Hari
•    Every week         :  Setiap Minggu            
•    Always                :  Selalu
•    Once a week        :  1 kali seminggu
•    Twice a year         :  2 kali setahun
•    Three time a day   :  3 kali sehari

2.    Present Continuous
Present Continuous used to emphasize the continuing nature of an event (usually a temporary one).
a.    Form
•    Verbal sentence
( + ) S + To be ( is, am are ) + Ving + + O
( - )  S + To be ( is, am, are ) + not + Ving + O
( ? )  To be ( is, am, are ) + S + Ving + O
( -? )  Isn’t, aren’t + S + Ving + O

Example :
( + )  Jennie is writing a letter
( - )   William is not going to market
( ? )  Are you coming to my birthday party?
( -? ) Isn’t he playing badminton?

•    Nominal Sentence
( + )  S + To be ( is, am, are ) + 3C
( - )   S + To be ( is, am, are ) + not + 3C
( ? )   To be ( is, am, are ) + S + 3C+ ?
( -? )  Isn’t, Aren’t + S + not + 3C + ?

Example :
( + ) Harry is kind teacher
( - )  You are not a good person
( ? )  Is Jonny a pilot?
( -? ) Aren’t they fans of EXO?

b.    Time Signal
•    Now                  : sekarang
•    Today                : hari ini
•    Still                   : masih
•    This morning    : pagi ini
•    This afternoon   : sore ini
•    Tonight              : malam ini

3.    Present Perfect
Present perfect is used to emphasize an event whose consequences are still relevant.
a.    Form
•    Verbal sentence
( + ) S + have/has + V3 + O
( - )  S + have/has +  not + V3 + O
( ? )  Have/has + S + + V3 + O + ?
( -? ) Haven’t/hasn’t + S + V3 + O?

Example :
( + )  You have written a novel
( - )   Nichol has not gone to concert
( ? )  Has Jane apologized to you?
( -? ) Hasn’t George chosen you as a leader?

•    Nominal sentence
( + )  S + have/has + been + 3C
( - )   S + have/has + not + been + 3C
( ? )  Have/has + S +  been + 3C + ?
( -? ) Haven’t/hasn’t + S + been + 3C + ?

 Example :
( + )  Jack has been from California
( - )   They have been not lucky
( ? )   Has Edward been from Indonesia?
( -? )  Haven’t you been sad?

b.    Time signal
•    Just               : baru saja
•    Just now       : baru saja
•    Already        : sudah
•    Finally          : akhirnya
•    So far           : sampai saat ini

4.    Present Perfect Continuous
Present Perfect Continuous is used to emphasize the continuing nature of events that ended recently and are still relevant.
a.    Form
•    Verbal sentence
( + ) S + have/has + been + Ving + O
( - )  S + have/has + not + been + Ving + O
( ? ) Have/has + S + been + Ving + O
( -? ) Haven’t/hasn’t + S + been + Ving + O

Example :
( + )  I have been waiting for you since a hour ago
( - )  Jack has not been doing his homework
( ? )  Has Rose been writing a letter?
( -? ) Haven’t you been making a cake?
•    Nominal sentence
( + )  S + have/has + been + 3C
( - )   S + have/has + not + been + 3C
( ? )  Have/has + S +  been + 3C + ?
( -? ) Haven’t/hasn’t + S + been + 3C + ?

Example :
( + ) You have been here for 3 hours
( - )  Ron has not been happy
( ? )  Has Sam been from Australia?
( -? ) Hasn’t Daisy been from South Korea?

b.    Time Signal
•    Since          : sejak
•    For              : selama
•    Ever since   : sejak saat ini
•    So far          : sampai saat ini
•    Long           : lamanya
•    Lately         : akhir-akhir ini

                                                              My Daily Activities
Everyday, I usually wake up at 4 am. I keep my bedroom neat. After that, I do subuh prayer. Then, I’m going to take a bath. I feel very fresh after take a bath. I wash my clothes if I have enough time and if I have schedule on campus at 7 am, I prepare my self to go to campus. After finish activities on campus, I go back to my house in afternoon. Then, I do ashar prayer and take a bath. In evening I do maghrib prayer and task. Honestly, when I’m become a university student my time for sleep is not have schedule. Sometimes I sleep when tired.
